This edition of the Report focuses on the world’s 57 million teachers. It reviews global trends and developments in education and educational policies affecting teachers, their status and work, and their education and training. The difficult situation facing teachers in the world’s poorest countries is highlighted, as well as the emerging challenges for teachers and teaching posed by the introduction into education of the new information and communication technologies.
